In this Alumni Spotlight, we spoke with Demian DeLorenz, Medical Equipment Technician graduate.
Where have you worked since you graduated, where do you work currently, and how long have you been working there?
I did my Externship at UPMC Hamot under Victor Mazzocchi. I currently work at Hagan Business Machines in Erie as a Field Service Technician.
What types of things do you do there day to day?
Day to day I am constantly learning and evolving. To become a proficient technician takes some time, but I am lucky enough to work at a place that understands that, and is willing to invest their time in me.
Our goal is to provide precision equipment repair, with emphasis in customer relations and assurance.
The demand for reliable, trustworthy, and adept maintenance technicians is now more than ever an integral part of modern business solutions.
What are your career goals for the future?
My future goals are being realized through my everyday life. I am lucky enough to have a job that has growth potential and is established in our Erie community.
What did you like about attending Erie Institute of Technology?
The staff and my teacher’s. Everyone is willing to help, just ask.
What advice can you give current students and new graduates that can help them be successful?
Be patient. Be resourceful, and open-minded. I lived at the “El Patio” motel for two years when I arrived in Erie in 2011 trying to get my footing. Work hard, see things through to their resolution, and do not get discouraged. If what you are doing is worthwhile, worthwhile things will meet you on your way there.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Hang out with my family. My wife and I have two kids, one of whom is 18 months. I draw a lot of pride in knowing that my family supported me while going to EIT, and now are beginning to reap the harvest of sown seed.
