HEERF Update 7/17/20

Erie Institute of Technology has signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and asserts that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Erie Institute of Technology has received $259,847.00 to be allocated to students, specifically in the form of emergency grants. All emergency grants must be distributed by 4/24/2021. As of 7/17/2020, $55,500.00 has been distributed to 72 students.

Approximately 192 students will be initially eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

All students who were active or on an approved leave of absence due to COVID-19 as of 3/26/2020 will be sent an application that must be returned to the Financial Aid Office. Students will be evaluated individually based on dependency status, enrollment status and any other rules set forth by the US Department of Education. Preliminary award amounts are projected to range from $250.00 – $1,000.00 per student.

The remaining portion of the student fund will be reserved for future student emergency grants, which can be requested via an application that will be emailed to every active student each semester, including new students. These grants will be awarded by a committee and amounts will be determined by individual need on a case-by-case basis until the grant is exhausted.
